Château du Seuil sits in the Graves, the Bordeaux district that has long been trusted for serious dry whites as much as for its reds. The estate farms this wine organically, a choice that starts in the vineyard and carries through to a cleaner, more transparent expression of fruit in the glass.

The blend is classic white Graves: Sauvignon Blanc for zip and aromatic lift, Sémillon for weight, a waxy roundness and the capacity to age. Bordeaux has made white wine in this mould for generations, and the two grapes together give the style its signature balance of freshness and substance rather than one-dimensional zest.

From the 2015 vintage, the wine carries the ripe citrus and orchard-fruit character of a well-made Graves white, now showing a little more depth and softening than a young example would. At around a decade old it drinks in its secondary phase, so approach it as a developed white rather than a fresh, primary one.

Expect aromas of lemon, white peach and a subtle herbal note, with any oak kept in a quiet supporting role. The palate is dry and textured, the Sémillon lending a gentle creaminess before a fresh, clean finish. Serve it well chilled, at around 10 degrees, in a standard white glass.
